TWAAYF
Total War against AIDS Youth Foundation (TWAAYF) is a non-profit community based organisation in Likoni, Mombasa, comprised of TWAAYF Children's Development Center and Madaraka Community School.
The organisation's founders, Martin Gitonga and Dennis Mugo, grew up homeless after losing their parents when they were only 5 and 7 years old.
They know first hand what happens to kids on the streets and they created TWAAYF Children's Development Centre to prevent others from undergoing the same suffering. The Center is now home to 17 orphaned or abandoned children, and provides these children with a shelter, nourishment, education, and lots of love.
The philosophy of TWAAF is to provide children with a home for life where they feel loved, secure and most of all, wanted.
TWAAYF focuses on performing arts, sports and community service as tools for education, child empowerment, and self-sustainability. The foundation regularly hosts concerts, sporting tournaments, and service projects for their students and the community to promote clean living and community mindedness.
Sadly TWAAYF is currently at full capacity but we want to help it grow so it can open its doors to even more children and make them part of the loving TWAAF family.
TWAAYF are also currently planning to build a new school for the children, and monies raised will go towards making this happen.
We have created this site to help the organisation and others by running events, and to allow you to donate to help the children or even to volunteer and help at an event!!
TWAAYF operates in conjunction with other Mombasa based projects such as the Madaraka school. For more on TWAAYF or the other projects visit their site http://www.hatualikoni.org/hatua/
